Postpartum Care As a Postpartum Doula, I mother the mother and enhance her babymoon by helping her family adjust. When a baby is born, a family is born. The newborn-centered schedule can overwhelm new parents or experienced parents, and I offer nurturing, nonjudgemental care and guidance to make the tansition to the "fourth trimester" smooth and rewarding.

This type of care can be considered a necessity, not a luxury, for many women - especially those who do not have extended family support available.

My role changes according to your needs for support so that your new baby experience is enhanced to be more loving and calm. You can get the rest you need, the support you deserve, prepared meals, a full pantry, a clean home, and peace of mind.

I am not offering overnight stays at this time; however, you may want to check back as I plan to in the future.

What I Do and Do Not Do

I will provide your family with the support, resources and expertise you need including:

• Mother care, companionship, support, and guidance
• Breastfeeding assistance
• Babywearing information
• Baby care instruction (feeding, bathing, cord care, swaddling, infant massage, etc.)
• Infant care, while mother rests or takes a walk
• Sibling care in parents' presence
• Meal preparation and clean up, or meal delivery
• Light housework (tidy house, laundry)
• Shopping and Errands
• Direct you to contact a healthcare provider if I see signs that warrant medical attention
  

I will not:

• Give medical advice or perform medical tasks.
• Baby sit or stay alone with older children for an extended period of time.
• Perform any major household tasks (ie. scrubbing bathrooms and floors, using a ladder.)

Information Binder, ebook, or CD with Teaching Sheets

Paper Binder - A complete binder full of evidence-based information and teaching sheets is available for a refundable deposit of $25. A great amount of time and printing materials are needed to compile the binders, and the deposit will cover the replacement costs if your binder is lost, stolen, or damaged. The $25 will be refunded when the binder is picked up at my final visit with you. The binder contains a variety of useful information on Postpartum, Breastfeeding, Newborn Care, Local Community Resources, etc.

ebook - This digital download contains a variety of useful information on Postpartum, Breastfeeding, Newborn Care, Local Community Resources, etc. It can be downloaded from the website from the library: Login here. It will be updated regularly as information is added and changes are made..

CD - A portable digital resource that contains a variety of useful information on Postpartum, Breastfeeding, Newborn Care, Local Community Resources, etc. This CD is custom made for each request so that is kept up to date. There is a small fee of $5 per CD to cover the my time and the materials used to compile the CD.

Insurance

As more women are choosing doulas as part of the pregnancy and birth team, and more research is being done proving the benefits of Doula care, more insurance companies are covering the cost of Doula service. Many insurance providers also cover the cost of childbirth classes, whether those classes are private or in-hospital. However, insurance companies vary on if and/or how much of a Doula's services they will pay for.  Many times, a "prescription for Doula Care" can influence the company to cover a Doula. All receipts and information you need for filing for insurance reimbursement will gladly be provided.
